This is actually a good read too, IMO, talking about Sony gaining back ground in the industry (check it out), or, "seizing the moment". But these two little pieces stood out to me

Wall Street Journal Claims The PS4 Will be Out This Fall, “Incorporate More Social Gaming Aspects Into The New Machine”



With “The Future” of PlayStation set to be revealed on February 20th, a PS4 reveal seems like the obvious outcome. The Wall Street Journal has jumped in to say that, yes, the PS4 is going to be announced… according to their sources.

WSJ also says that the PS4 will come out this holiday season, alongside the next Xbox. Interestingly, the publication also claims that Sony plans to “incorporate more social gaming aspects into the new machine,” and “is more focused this time on the changes in how users interact with the machine” rather than hardware improvements.

This is all still rumor and speculation at this point, but The WSJ relies on its reputation, when it comes to rumors, far more than the average games outlet. It’s also not too far of a stretch of the imagination to guess that if the PS4 is going to be announced this month, it’ll come out this year.

Nei giorni scorsi è iniziato a circolare la notizia, confermata da diverse fonti, che Sony annuncerà al mondo la sua prossima console il 20 febbraio, in un apposito evento; questo ha portato molti a chiedersi quando Microsoft avrebbe fatto il suo annuncio, e la casa di Redmond si è per ora limitata a rispondere con un "la next-gen non sarà vinta da chi fa più rumore, ma da chi provocherà il maggior impatto".


I rumor però continuano a circolare, ed una fonte del sito Polygon afferma che Microsoft farà il suo annuncio solo in primavera, mesi dopo la rivelazione della console Sony. C'è comunque da dire che la primavera inizia il 20 marzo e pochi giorni dopo ci sarà la Games Developers Conference, prima della quale alcuni rumor volevano la rivelazione di entrambe le console. Questo perché, se gli sviluppatori presenti all'evento vorranno poter parlare dei progetti in corso per le nuove macchine, avranno bisogno che siano state prima annunciate ufficialmente. Se Microsoft non avrà scoperto le proprie carte per quella data, dovremo aspettarci una serie di annunci del tipo "in sviluppo per PC, PS4 e altre piattaforme".

The PlayStation brand gets a new advertising agency — Sony ends relationship with firm behind ‘Michael’ spot

Sony wants something new for its PlayStation marketing campaigns.

The multimedia conglomerate announced today that it is replacing advertising firm Deutsch with Bartle, Bogle, Hegarty New York, or BBH New York. This new firm is best known for its work promoting Google’s Chrome web browser, Axe body spray, and Coca-cola’s Sprite soft drink.

“All of the participating agencies, 180LA, Anomaly, BBH New York and Deutsch presented outstanding ideas during the process,” PlayStation brand marketing senior vice president Guy Longworth said in a statement. “But after careful consideration, BBH New York is the best partner for our business.”

Sony refused to comment about why it decided to make a change in marketing its PlayStation products at this time. It’s possible that company is just looking for something new before it launches its new home console, which is predicted to debut as early as this fall.

“PlayStation is one of the most exciting and coveted brands in the world, so we’re thrilled and humbled to partner with SCEA,” BBH New York chief creative officer John Patroulis said. “They have a smart and ambitious team and we can’t wait to get started.”

BBH New York’s work on its Google Chrome account is well noted for its affecting ads. The firm does an excellent job eliciting an emotional response while demonstrating the Chrome product in a commercial called Dear Sophie.

“Deutsch has been an incredible partner for PlayStation over the last six years, and has delivered stand-out creative and strategy for the PlayStation brand in the US. We would like to thank them for their dedicated service to our business,” Longworth added.

This ends the six-year relationship Sony had with Deutsh, which created memorable television spots like a PlayStation ad where various characters from games talk about a fictional gamer named Michael.
